Keyteams, Keyworkers and Keypersons

A Keyteam is made up of two to three Keyworkers, including trainees, working together and based in one room or area each day. Each Keyworker has responsibility for between three to six children dependent upon the age group they are with.

The Keyworker helps your child become familiar with the nursery when settling in and responds sensitively to your child’s feelings ideas and behaviour. Keyworkers meet individual care needs.

Within each Keyteam there are Keyworkers who work as leaders and have additional responsibility for the care of your child. These Keyworkers work solely with either the 0-2 or 2-5 years group - although on occasion may work with another group to assist in their ongoing professional development.

A 0-2 or 2-5 year Keyworker from the group given above will always be available to talk to you each day. These Keyworkers are your main point of contact having overall responsibility for the passing of information between home and the Keyteam. Their role is to ensure the care needs of your child are being met along with the effective implementation of The Early Years Foundation Stage. They are also responsible for maintaining standards of practice within the nursery. These 0-2 and 2-5 year Keyworkers are central to the care of your child.

This practice gives us an effective means of good communication within the whole nursery team and for working together with parents to ensure the best possible care for your child. To assist us with this it is very important that you communicate any needs or information to your child’s 0-2 year and 2-5 year Keyworker, as given above, when coming to the nursery each day. Please note Nursery Managers provide cover in the absence of a Keyworker.

Nursery Managers are responsible for the operation of the nursery ensuring the safety and welfare needs of your child are met in accordance with the registration held and OFSTED guidelines. At least one Manager is present on the nursery floor at all times and is available throughout the day for parents to discuss any matters relating to their child’s care.
