Keypersons
Role of the Keyperson
Keypersons have responsibility for ensuring specific individual care needs are met and known to all carers within the Keyteam. Keypersons are tasked with record keeping, targeting learning and monitoring progress. Managers are responsible for allocating Keypersons and informing parents. Whilst the appointed Keyperson meets key needs for children they are not the main or sole carer. Each Keyteam will have good knowledge of each child’s individual needs and equally good ability to care for each child. Being a smaller setting gives us the ability to manage staffing and provide continuity for the children in any given event and each day children will have carers who know them well.
- Meet needs of both children and parents
- Analyse effective delivery of children’s care and learning
- Plan for further adult led activities
Keypersons report to the Lead Educator to ensure planning intentions for individual children are in line with effective delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Role of Managers
Managers have responsibility for the effectiveness of Keyteams. Managers meet on a regular basis and work closely together to monitor effective implementation of the EYFS and uniformity of practice. Managers’ co-ordinate events on a day to day basis providing support for staff and overseeing practice. The Registered Person and Managers have overall responsibility for
effective leadership in the management of learning and care ensuring the safety and welfare needs of children are met in line with the requirements of the EYFS.
Importance of Parent Partnerships
Information is gathered from parents
at a first induction meeting and ongoing daily information about children’s interests at home aid further learning. Developmental progress of children is observed, collated and recorded in an online learning journal. Parents have direct contact with their Keyperson/Keyteam throughout each day by text, phone or email.
